What would I rather be doing? - Guest Blogger, Andrew Vrbas
I am so excited to
have a guest blogger!!!! Enjoy these
wise words by entrepreneur Mr. Andrew Vrbas, creator of PACHA SOAP! This business is a soap company with a social
mission inspired by Andrew’s travels to Central America. In Andrew’s words below, please enjoy as he
shares his secret to finding passion in what you do.
In times of difficulty, what would you rather be doing? That
one question could potentially solve a lot of inner confusion and turmoil both
for those who are stuck in the common and for those venturing into the
uncommon. That one question might sound foolish or selfish; however the answer
is very enlightening. The answer to that one question reveals the desire of
one’s being: the passion of one’s life.
When we are discontent about our circumstances, we are forced
to answer that one question: what would I rather be
doing? In the case of a person attempting to launch a new business the answer
is often that he or she would rather have a more stable and consistent
livelihood. In the case of a promising young musician aspiring to be great, the
answer is often that he or she would rather not practice such long hours. In
the case of a person stuck at a mediocre desk job, the answer is often that he
or she would rather be doing something more freeing and creative.
For those stuck in the common or for those attempting the
uncommon, let me pose a question: what would you rather be doing? Life is too
fragile to not find your happiness. Fortunately for us, we are free to pursue
happiness.
What would you rather be doing? There is nothing else I
would rather be doing. When you can
truthfully utter those words to yourself and to others, then you have
discovered your passion in life. This passion will carry you through the hard
times like a drop of rain quenches a plant’s thirst.
So, in all that you do, ask the question of yourself; “What
would I rather be doing?”

A very simple question, Andrew.... But, very powerful. I plan to ask myself this question much more often now that I have read your blog and have pondered the impact it may have on my day-to-day efforts at life. Thanks!
